Epoxy Isonate is a general-purpose, transparent two-component polyurethane isolating sealer designed to treat problematic or porous dark-stained woods before applying PU or polyester topcoats. This undercoat offers very good penetration, wetting and blocking properties, helping to lock in humidity, salts, tannins and knot-related issues that can otherwise disturb the finish.

Used where residual moisture or adverse organic salts are suspected, Epoxy Isonate improves adhesion, evens absorption and renews the “wet look” of stains while stabilising the substrate. It is clear, has a specific gravity of about 0.94 kg/l and blended solids around 31%, giving a good sealing film without clouding the colour. The coating is dust-free in about 15 minutes, touch-dry in roughly 40 minutes at 25 °C, and can generally be overcoated without sanding after 3–4 hours, with full deep drying in 24 hours. Supplied in 1 L and 100 ml packs, it is recommended as an isolating basecoat in Jewell’s Italian wood-coating system.
